Now is your chance to become involved!  Join us for thrilling Circus Pole Workshops, April 6, 13, 20, 27th with a Saturday and Sunday performance showtime, April 26th and 27th. The Circus Pole Workshops and performances will be located at 750 E. Sample Road, Unit 4-6,  Pompano Beach, Florida 33064, inside an elite pole fitness dance studio, Pixie Fitness.

Currently we are seeking all kinds of circus performers especially these disciplines – pole dance, aerial frame, lyra, silks, aerial net, acrobat duets, contortion, balancing, stilt walking, fire, and we not limited to these. April 6th – Circus Pole Workshop I [Intro & Pre - Production]; Introduction to Circus Pole mission statement, Teach intro pole group routine; talk about our own character as a circus performer artist;  Solo auditions; Put on our fun costumes and make up for group photo shoot for press release;

On this first day of Saturday workshop, participants are to bring a costume they would like to be in the group photographed.

It can be a mix and match of tops and bottoms with accessories. Think bright colors, fairy wings, decorative wings, hot boy shorts, bikini bottom, candy girl, bright leg warmers, pig tails, super long eye lashes, anything with red stripes, fun mustache, clown shoes, lion jumping through hoop, ring master, burlesque, or just fun makeup. This is going to be our press release photo for the end of month performances!

April 13th – Circus Pole Workshop II [Production - Production ]  Bring materials to class for sewing costume, finalize and rehearsal,  group, duet, solo, teach entire group outro

April 20th – Circus Pole Workshop III [Production & Full dress rehearsal] Full dress rehearsal, Group routines, full dress rehearsals for groups , duets, and solos

April 27th – Workshop IV [Full dress rehearsal & Pixie Wonderland Performance] + (Video Take 1) Everyone easy dress rehearsal with costume, lights, sound music, then a performance the same evening.

April 28th – Workshop V – Final Pixie Wonderland Performance + (Video Take 2)

Performance dates are April 27th, Saturday call time 6:00pm, showtime 7:00pm-8:00pm  and Sunday 28th, call time 3:00pm, 4-5pm showtime

Carolyn Chiu’s desire to impact the world through her photography found it’s perfect home when she discovered Pole Fitness. In 2010 she founded PoleOgraphy.com and has been living the dream every since.

Her mission is to dissolve the stereotypes associated with pole dancing and exotic dancing. More Details: The photo shoot aims to capture the individual’s personality through their body language as a creature of your choice. I suggest dogs and cats because wearing ears are fun! Putting together a dog costume shouldn’t cost you more than $20. You can buy cheap headband ears or even build them or get a winter hat with animal ears. After you found yourself a pair of animal ears, try match it with your pole dance or lyra outfit. Bring your entire outfit to the time slot you confirmed poleography@gmailcom.

During the shoot, we are suggesting to capture you in 3 unique moments including bouncing in the air (on a trampoline), posing with the dance pole, and posing with the aerial hoop (lyra).  Each person should take under 20 minutes. However if you do something extra special to yourself, ex: face paint yourself into a cool animal,  it’s letting me know I can create awesome head shots. For the most, these are full body shots. ROBO POLE DANCE BATTLE and Con Artists at WIP Soho NYC

I have this vision of turning pole dancers into futuristic robots and now have the opportunity to execute this art performance installation at W.I.P.(Work In Progress), Soho, NYC, August 29th in collaboration with ConArtist and W.I.P. I’ve selected the following applicants who applied a few days ago. If you see your description here, it’ means you made the cut.

Next,  read through the description below.

Preparation Phase – Imagine being covered in silver body paint at an artsy club. The type of paint supplied is from Ricky’s called Liquid Body Make Up, color Silver by Kryolan. If you are worried and do not know how your skin reacts to body paint, go to Ricky’s, get a 4 oz. bottle of this silver paint $15.00 and test it on yourself.

Next, pick an appropriate top and bottom. Here’s some suggestions:

*Home made pasties made from aluminum foil tape – cut your own size and shape into hearts, stars, what ever shape you think looks good on chest; see photo below I’m wearing them. I’ll bringing the sticky aluminum foil and we can make shapes to your preferences.

Other options you can wear a shiny top, the ones you see at American Apparel.

*Bottom – shiny silver briefs, boy shorts, thong (not see through in the front), or shiny silver shorts. If you don’t have anything silver, blue is the next choice. If you don’t have anything blue, gray is the next choice. If you don’t have any of those, try American Apparel, they have tons of shiny bottoms. I don’t recommend string bikinis because those little tie things don’t transfer well in photography.

Hair Suggestions: please keep it off the shoulders; when you are covered in silver paint, your neck and shoulder lines will look amazing in photos, so please pull your hair up

August 29th, 2012 Schedule

7-8pm – Arrive at W.I.P. 34 Vandam Street, NYC

8:00-8:30pm – Rehearsal time for Robo Pole Dancers, practice entering,  run through with music, practice bowing, exiting

8:30pm-10:30pm – Meet in the rest room; Apply silver base on your self, use your own hands, a sponge doesn’t work well. I and another female Con Artist will be there helping you apply it onto your backs and back of legs.

10/10:30pm – Meet in main room; Con Artists will body paint details to your outter legs, arms, and back. Here you will be put into Team Zero or Team One. 0 or 1 will be painted on your back.

1am – All The Girls Get Together and Rule – by Costanza- When you hear this song, it means to head towards the dance pole and performance area which is infront of the DJ booth. Once we are all there, I will cue the DJ to play this song:

As The Rush Comes (Gabriel & Dresden Chill Out Mix) (6.5 minutes) -that’s when we start the artistic performance battle, which is actually a game. Here’s how the game works:

2 Teams of Robo Pole Dancers battle each other – Zeros vs. Ones

Holding 1 and 0 sample for painting

There will be trays of paint and scatted 1′s and 0′s around the dance pole. The directions are to use your foot as a paintbrush to apply paint to these #s. Once the song starts, “As The Rush Comes” (Gabriel & Dresden Chill Out Mix), you will begin to paint your numbers which lay on the floor around the pole. The object of the game is to cover your team’s numbers (in less than 6 minutes) and avoid the Virus, played by myself. I only move and attempt to grab a Robo Dancer during the vocals of the song.  Once I, the Virus, touch and lock my arms around you, the Robo Dancer  cannot to move, paint, dance until I release you. I may hold you for 3-15 seconds. There are 3 ways to avoid the Virus, A.) the Robo Dancer can continuosly dance away from the Virus. B.) the Robo Dancer can drop to the floor and do floor work dancing, C.) the Robo Dancer can pull 1-2 tricks on the dance pole [once you pull 1-2 tricks; come down and cue the other team  it's their turn to pull1-2 tricks] Teams will alternate their time on the dance pole.

Once the song is over, Line Up in any order; everyone FACE THE DJ BOOTH, stand in 3rd position ballet feet, RIGHT FOOT IN FRONT, hold the persons hands next to you and raise your arms up. This will cause your BACK and shoulder MUSCLES to FLEX and show off the #s painted on your backs. It will look like a string of 0′s and 1′s. Let people photograph your backs. Once I give the cue, turn around and face the audience; we all hold hands again and take 2 bows and then run off.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT WAY TO CLOSE OUR PERFORMANCE

The end artifact is a string of 1′s and 0′s;  to be installed inside WIP.

I will have some wipies to remove the body paint.

The next step is to send a confirmation email to poleOgraphy(at) gmail by August 28th, 2012, 8:00pm) stating – “I am Robot # (number goes here) I will be there at WIP this Wednesday 8pm, ready for the rehearsal and performance.”
