Here’s what the clothing sponsor, Mika Wear, had to say about the photo shoot:
“What a blast we all had at this amazing photo shoot! We got the chance to style the girls in this photo shoot & had the best time doing it! PoleOgraphy’s space is incredible! Gorgeous views of the city, convenient location & a super comfortable atmosphere. Everyone involved in the shoot was very motivated & a pleasure to work with. Carolyn- you ROCK! Thank you for making us feel so comfortable at your studio. If I ever need to do a shoot in NY I would hands down visit your space again- & want to try out your ring!! That looks like too much fun. Thanks again & hope to be seeing you soon. All the best for 2011″~ Laura Costa of Mika Wear
Here’s what the writer of Pole Spin Magazine had to comment about the photo shoot:
“PoleOgraphy is one of a kind photography studio in New York City and is sure to be the driving force for others interested in photographing pole dancers of all kinds. The location was perfect. It’s right in the heart of Manhattan. As a non-New Yorker it was very easy to find my way to PoleOgraphy and navigate my way around the area. I had the sole responsibility of being the gossip columnist for the American Pole Fitness Championships on behalf of Pole Spin Magazine. PoleOgraphy donated the studio to host a two day photo shoot session in order to capture all of the competitors on camera prior to the championships.
When I arrived no one knew who I was. Carolyn was just finishing up her photo shoot when I walked in. She was a very gracious hostess. As soon as I told her who I was she welcomed me with open arms telling me to have a seat and make myself at home. I just kept thinking to myself, “What a great idea! A photography studio dedicated to showing pole dancing in a new light…as an artform!” I almost wish that I had thought of it first
I found the studio to be very spacious and well lit. Right in front of the photography area are these huge windows that span the entire level and give incredible natural light. There was a table set up for doing hair and make-up and enough room to accommodate a sitting area for myself, representatives of Mika Sportswear and others, including our occasional visitors like Steven Retchless’ superstar mom Victoria.
Carolyn was amazing! She was the first person to show up at the studio and the last person to leave. She never faltered; she remained friendly and professional during the photo shoot. To say that the photo shoot was pure chaos would be a bit of an understatement. We had 16 competitors as well as Tinu, Allegra and the Valentino brothers to photograph in two days. While Sam Green was working his magic behind the camera on one competitor, Mika Sportswear reps were in the back room picking out outfits for another competitor while s/he was stretching out, and a third competitor was sitting with the hair and make-up artists getting the final touches before s/he went in front of the camera.
Carolyn was very accommodating. We had everything we needed right there in the studio. Carolyn is an amazing dancer. I strongly advise that you find some of her videos. She is a true pole artist who thinks outside the box. Not only is she a fantastic pole dancer she also instructs Chinese Pole. Her knowledge of beauty and dance are a perfect fit for promoting pole fitness as photographic art.”~Mindy Armstrong Staff Writer of Pole Spin Magazine
